If you've just landed a teaching, aide, or childcare role, fingerprinting is usually one of the last boxes between you and your first day. It sounds like a formality — until a smudged print bounces your submission and a start date slips. Here's how to get it done right the first time, with as little friction as possible.
Who needs fingerprinting in Oregon schools?
Anyone working closely with students generally has to pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check as a condition of employment or licensing. That typically includes:
- Classroom teachers and substitutes
- Paraeducators and instructional aides
- Coaches and activity leaders
- Childcare and early-learning staff
- Volunteers with regular student contact
The requirement itself comes from your school, district, or licensing board — our job is to capture prints clean enough that nothing gets kicked back.
Results in about 30 minutes
As an approved FBI channeler, we return your FBI Identity History Summary the same visit — not the weeks a mailed card can take. When a job start is on the line, that speed is the whole point.
What to bring
- A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport).
- Any instructions from your school, district, or licensing board — a form, an ORI number, or a specified card type. This tells us where your prints are going and in what format.
- Clean hands help — skip heavy lotion right before your appointment.
Live scan or an ink card?
Some employers accept electronic (live scan) submission; others require a physical fingerprint card mailed in. Both capture the same thing — your prints — but which one you need is set by whoever requested them. If your instructions name a card like the FD-258, bring that detail. When you need cards, ours come two to a set so you have a backup.

- Fingerprint Cards — $75 (two cards included) for agencies that require a physical FD-258.
