Certificate of no marriage record
A state-issued record confirming no marriage is on file. Where a state provides one, it's a vital record and is apostilled directly — no notarization needed.
Affidavit of single status
A sworn statement that you're free to marry, signed in front of a notary. Used when your state doesn't issue a certificate. The apostille authenticates the notary.

What a single status apostille is for
Before a foreign government will marry you, it usually wants proof you're not already married somewhere else. The apostille is what makes that proof official in the 120+ Hague Convention countries.

Most countries also want a translation
If your wedding country doesn't use English, it will almost certainly require a certified translation of the apostilled single status document. The order matters: get the apostille first, then translate the full packet — so you never pay to redo it. We handle translation too, certified or standard, typically $50 to $75 per page. We'll confirm your timeline up front.
